IT Developer Associate – Job Description
About the Role
Centrum Concierge & Security Ltd. is looking for an IT Developer Associate to join our development team and help shape new tech initiatives and products - including web apps and their companion mobile apps (React Native via Expo), integrated with modern cloud services and CI/CD pipelines.
This role is about helping push our development team forward - working closely with our lead developer on architecture, feature delivery, and meeting deadlines, while also helping bridge IT/automation needs across the wider organization and its affiliated companies.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain features across our web app and our React Native / Expo mobile app, working in TypeScript
- Use AI coding agents as part of a spec-driven development workflow - writing clear specs and documentation before and alongside implementation
- Keep the web and mobile apps consistent in behavior, data models, and UX where it makes sense to share logic
- Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions), including automated tests (e.g. Playwright)
- Instrument code with solid error logging and observability (Sentry), and act on what it surfaces
- Work with Supabase and Vercel for backend, database, and deployment needs
Write and optimize SQL queries, and work confidently with relational databases as part of everyday feature development
- Follow solid object-oriented and modular design practices (DRY, scalable architecture) to keep the codebase maintainable as it grows
- Support automation workflows and IT needs across the wider organization and its affiliated companies, including some Microsoft 365 / end-user support
Required Qualifications
- Spec-driven development: 1+ years developing software with AI agents, primarily in TypeScript and its frameworks, including writing documentation, solid Git practices, a strong grasp of object-oriented design, and modular, scalable system design following the DRY principle
- Mobile app development: 1+ years building iOS and Android apps with React Native through the Expo framework, keeping feature parity and consistency with a corresponding web app
- DevOps, logging, and testing: 1+ years with GitHub Actions and/or GitLab Runners for CI/CD pipelines, including test workflows (e.g. Playwright); a habit of prioritizing error logging and visibility (e.g. with Sentry) so issues are caught and actionable
Preferred Qualifications
- Server management & networking: Hands-on experience with Linux, Docker containers, and self-hosted open-source services
- Cybersecurity & privacy standards: Knowledge of secure development practices without sacrificing speed - familiarity with the OWASP Top 10, iOS/Android security best practices, and PIPEDA compliance, including tools on the end user aspect like XDRs, phishing campaigns and MDMs
- Microsoft ecosystem: Comfortable assisting with Microsoft 365 automation and bridging gaps with end users; an MS-900 and/or MS-700 certification is a nice addition
