Check the business and site first
The city distinguishes commercial, home occupation, daycare and non-resident business types. Home businesses must fit zoning limits. Commercial operators should verify zoning and building use before signing a lease or buying a unit.
A business licence does not replace building, fire, health, childcare, liquor or other required approvals. Staff review which inspections and third-party documents are needed for the specific operation.

Submit and receive approval
Send the completed form and supporting documents to BusLic@MapleRidge.ca, submit at the bylaw front counter or mail as directed on the application page. The minimum annual licence fee is $110; some categories cost more.
A non-resident licence may be issued immediately, while home and commercial applications may take ten business days or more. Inspections and document approval must be complete before issue. Fees are not refundable once issued or inspections have occurred.

Renewal, ownership and moves
Licences last to December 31. The city sends a renewal invoice before year end, without requiring a whole new application for an unchanged renewal.
Licences do not transfer to a buyer. The new owner applies and the former owner closes the account. A move within Maple Ridge needs a new application; current commercial or home daycare operators pay a $50 transfer fee. A name change has its own form.
